The Alabama Department of Revenue rejected your return with the following message: "Total of Alabama Wages, Form 40 Pg. 1 line 5, must equal the total amount of all State Wages (including Wages Earned out of State) as reported in Box 16 of the NEW ELF 2010 (4) STATE WAGE AND LOCALITY Federal 1040 W-2 (State Wages 1, State Wages2, State Wages 3, State Wages 4). Note plus/minus +/- $3.00 variance allowance has been added to Total/WagesSalaries Tips to allow for rounding errors.

Alabama is rejecting your return because the amount you input for Box 16 on your W-2 doesn't equal your total wages on Form 40. Please confirm your Box 16 wages are inputted correctly into TurboTax.

To get back to your W-2, please follow the instructions below:

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. Go to W-2.
    3. Select Work on my W-2 and Continue.

Can you clarify what state you earned the wages?
