How do I amend only my New York State return? It was originally accepted then I got a letter that it wasn't. I now want to go directly to my NY tax return and refile only that one. How do I do it?

It depends.

Was your New York return accepted by New York or not?

If it was accepted, you would need to file an amended return. Please see the link below for instructions on how to amend your state return.

Steps to amend a state return

If your state return was not accepted, you can log back into TurboTax using the instructions below, make your changes, and submit them again.

Sign in to TurboTax.
You should be able to see Your Tax Returns & documents
Select show here.
Select 2019
Select Add a state

This will allow you to see your state return. (You do not need to actually add a state, but this will allow you to access your existing state return.)

You will then be able to try to electronically file your state return.
