For 2024 I filed under status married filing jointly with my spouse, we have no kids and now realize we would get more back by filing under married filing separately. I am attempting to amend my Vermont state tax return, line 1 is asking for "Federal Adjusted Gross Income (federal Form 1040, Line 11)", should I fill this in with the adjusted gross income from the original 2024 tax return that we filed or should I use the values on my W2?

If you are amending both your federal and state tax returns, you should amend your federal return first and use that information to amend your state tax return. When you amend your federal return the changes will automatically update on your state return.

You should enter your Adjusted Gross Income from your Federal return that you have amended.

You should wait until your returns have been accepted to amend them.
