    TurboTax allows you you choose from any charitable organization for which Arizona allows a credit. In the Arizona interview, when you get to the screen, "Other Nonrefundable Credits" select "Contributions to Qualified Charities".

    At the next screen, choose the correct time period in which you made the donation.

    You will see links, "Is my organization qualified?"

    See here for the complete list of Qualified Charitable Organizations for Arizona for 2023. This is the same list available in TurboTax if you click "Charity List" in the "Is my organization qualified?" link. Arizona allows a credit for donations made to those organizations and you would need to enter the code for the organization.

    For Arizona tax credit purposes, the department assigns a code (a 5-digit identification number) to each qualifying charitable organization and the UCO fund (for example: 23456). If your donation receipt did not include the charity's code, the department's list of qualifying charities includes the code assigned to each charity and the UCO fund code. Be sure to enter the code number for each qualifying charity for which you and your spouse made cash contributions."

    For the purpose of this credit, qualifying services are services that meet the recipient's immediate basic needs. The services must be provided and used in Arizona.

    Services that meet these needs include the following:
    * cash assistance
    * medical care
    * childcare
    * food
    * clothing
    * shelter
    * job training
    * job placement services

    NOTE: There is a different list for 2023 and 2024. To avoid delays in processing your return, be sure to choose from the correct list.

    Be sure that your contributions entered here are not duplicated on your itemized deductions. See here for more information from the State of Arizona regarding the tax credits.
