Question

Before I put in my third tax return, I was getting $840 in return. When I put in my third return it changed to $540? Why is this?

    Instead of "tax return", do you mean W-2?

     

    The amount of your tax refund will depend on how much income you report and how much withholding you had. Every time you enter a new W-2, you are adding to both numbers, which means that you could have increased your income tax without having enough withholding to cover it.
