BUG: Can't clear an incorrect entry in Idaho tax return

I made an error in Idaho's capital gain deduction in the interview.  I can't remove the entry in the interview or in the form and I can't delete the form and start over. The form affected is Form CG.

To clarify, are you using the CD/download product (as opposed to the Online product)?

Why can't you change the entry in the interview? Is it because you don't see the same screen again?

And why can't you delete the form? In Forms mode (assuming you have the CD/download product). when you bring up the form and press the delete button at the bottom, what happens?

Are you entering capital gains on the federal return, like on a 1099-DIV? You may have to delete this form in input before you can delete the Form CG (and then, re-add the federal input). That is, once you have entered some data that triggers a form, you have to delete all such data before you can delete the form.

I am using Home and Business Desktop on an iMac. The interview displays the value but I can't change it. I delete the form and it remains in the list. The form closes after I confirm the deletion step but it remains in the list.

Idaho allows for a reduction in capital gains and has "Form CG" for that calculation. There is an associated worksheet that goes with it. This is a problem only with the Idaho return, nothing to do with federal.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. At this point I think I will just see if I can delete the entire state return and start over 😞

"This is a problem only with the Idaho return, nothing to do with federal." I understand; my point was that the presence of the federal input data may be enough to keep the form from being deleted -  this is how it often works. So you have to delete the federal data before deleting the state form.

I am sorry that I don't have a Mac. I have contacted another support person with a Mac to see if they can help. With luck, however, your delete and re-enter may solve the issue before we get back together.
