I own my home In New Cumberland, PA. I work and have an apartment in Altoona, PA which is 100 miles from where my home is. I return home every weekend.  I have worked there over a year but intend to find a job close to my home in New Cumberland when one is available.

I pay my local tax to New Cumberland, Pa.

Can I deduct my traveling expenses and my rent in Altoona as business expenses?

Yes, if you file a Schedule C for your business as Self-Employed, you can deduct travel expenses.

If you are a W-2 employee, you can't claim these expenses.
