CA Sales and Use Tax

Hi there, I have a direct sales business.  When I buy my inventory I pay tax on it.  When I sell the product I charge my customers tax to make up the money I spent on taxes.  Do I need to file a sales and use tax in the state of California?

Thank you,

Mary Beth

We answer income tax questions in this forum--not questions about state sales taxes.  Contact your state to ask about the rules for sales taxes.

You probably do have to file a sales tax return.  I believe that would be with the Board of Equalization.   And if you are buying items for resale you get an exemption so you don't pay sales tax.

looks like there is a new dept
