California state taxes rentals and royalties page

On my California state taxes, the page labeled "Rental and Royalty Summary", it looks like it is assuming I have rental property.  I do not, and my federal taxes reflect that.  I am taking a big hit on my state taxes, and I want to make sure they are not counting a rental property that I do not have.

    It depends.

Your state return is prepared from the information entered in your federal interview section.

If your federal return does not reflect any information, I would recommend going through the state interview section again to ensure there isn't any other information entered on the state tax return that does not below.

If you are in the desktop version, you can also select to view your forms on the top right hand corner of the program.  Review your California tax return to ensure if anything is being picked up as rental or royalty income on Schedule CA (540NR).  You will be able to see the amounts reported on your federal return and your California return on this form.
