Yes, contributions made to the Scholars Edge 529 plan are deductible.

"Massachusetts allows state residents to deduct annual contributions they make to any Massachusetts 529 Plan from their state income taxes. There is an annual deduction limit of $1,000 for single taxpayers and $2,000 for taxpayers filing married/jointly." - from state tax deduction calculator

As you go through your Massachusetts return, look for a screen titled Education Expenses.  On that page there will be a checkbox labeled Contributed to a College Savings Plan established by Massachusetts.  This is where you will enter your contributions.

I have gone through my MA state return and nowhere was I asked if I made contributions to an education plan, I have deleted my states and done it twice already and it just doesn't ask me that. How can I add my 529 contributions?

Can you please clarify the following:

    • Are you using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Download/Desktop software?
    • What version of the program you are using? (Free, Premier, Deluxe, etc)
