Question

Can I enter my prior year (2022) California return tax refund info manually instead of having it read automatically into this year's California State Tax return?

Last year I used Turbotax to understand my tax situation, but I didn't actually file using TurboTax.  I used an accountant and filed with them.  So the information that's in TurboTax  for 2022 is different from what I actually filed last year.  This year, I want to use Turbotax to file, and I want to enter the info from 2022's return manually. Is there a way to do this?

If you used TurboTax Online to start completing a tax return for 2022, but didn't file it, and the information from that unfiled return carries over to 2023, you could either choose to start a different TurboTax account for your 2023 return (in which case you wouldn't have the previous information) or you can use the same account and visit each section of the return that has information carried over from 2022 and make appropriate edits.

For example, if TurboTax is showing payments you made in 2022 towards your 2023 tax liability but you made additional payments that aren't shown, you can go to Deductions and Credits, and add or edit Estimated Tax Payments /  Additional Payments.
