Can my federal tax return be garnished for unpaid court fines in new jersey

For like surcharges or just court fines I moved and just want to know if I will be getting a return or if I should just keep working 95 hours every 2 weeks

The IRS can seize your federal refund if you owe child support, back taxes (including state tax) and sometimes for student loans.  The state may be able to seize your state refund if you owe fines, traffic violations etc in the state.  State laws vary for that.

 

TurboTax never knows if you have outstanding debts that might cause your refund to be offset.   You can check to see if the IRS has any offsets on record for you.
