Can't delete MN schedule M15 or the underpayment statement in desktop version

I am using TT desktop for MN taxes. I wanted to see if the alternate calculation for penalties on underpayment would change the penalty amount. However, I no longer want to use the regular method on the MN schedule M15 or the underpayment statement. I want to use the default, short method.

I go into View, Forms and try to delete either or both forms. It won't let me delete them, which means I can't file electronically. I went back and looked at the place where it allows you to trying the alternate calculation and, in small print, they put a message "if you use it, you can't file electronically".

I just want to delete the forms and use the default method. Is there any way to do that?

Yes, the program will not delete forms it thinks are important so you have to make the form blank, then it will delete. Edit your entries to blanks, you can delete and file.

Thanks. There is no way to empty that form and delete it.

I deleted the entire state and then started it over. It used the default method. However, if you have an underpayment of any kind, you are not able to file MN taxes electronically. Period.

So, I will have to file my MN return using paper because of a $14 underpayment penalty. Seems like both MN and I lost time and money on this issue.

If you have not filed your state return yet, you can try to update your program and then try e-filing your state return again as this issue has been resolved.

This can be done by logging into your desktop product. Select Online in the menu on the top, and then select Check for Updates.
