Question

Can't state file because form 8829 isn't ready?

TTax says I can e-file federal, but not state (California) because "California Individual Form 8829 Exp for Business Use of Home" is not ready (Gov't still working on form). I tried to Google search and there doesn't appear to be a separate form for California. Is there really such a form? And it still isn't ready in the first week of February? How can I get info on it's progress?

You can keep track of the availability of State forms here:

State forms availability table for TurboTax individual (personal) tax products

Also, be sure to keep your TurboTax Home & Business version up to date so you will get access to the form as soon as it is released.  To check for updates if you're on a PC, open TurboTax and select Check for Updates from the Online menu near the top. On a Mac, simply quit and reopen TurboTax. If there are any updates, you'll be prompted to download them.
