Question

CO and NC Part year income tax

I moved from CO to NC on Oct 1, 2023, but still working remotely for my CO Employer.

For Income on NC, it pulls 100% of my taxable wages from Federal (W-2), but is not letting me adjust that amount to the 25% of my time as NC resident. I have selected NC Resident Income for "Status".

Why does NC TT allow us to enter part year for Interest, Dividends, etc., but not Income?

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks!

It is due to the way that NC taxes income.  The NC return will determine your total NC income tax by taking a ratio of income earned only while a resident of NC divided by all income earned for the year.

As long as you have indicated that a portion of your total income was attributed to the time you were a resident of NC, then that is the only thing you need to do.  You would select that it is NC Resident Income as you stated above.
