I live in Colorado, work for California employer. 2023 W-2 box 14 has a deduction labeled "COPL." Nothing in Turbotax's drop-down. Is "other deductible . . ." correct?

Don't use other deductible state/local tax, use Other - not on list/not classified.  It is right below other deductible state or local tax.

In TurboTax, enter the description (COPL) from your W-2's box 14 on the first field in the row.   Enter the dollar amount and select the correct tax category that goes with that description.

If none of the categories apply, scroll to the bottom of the list and choose Other (not classified).  If we need more information, we'll ask you.

Why do I have any amount for Colorado Paid Leave?  I didn't take any leave this year.

The Colorado Paid Leave amount on your W-2 are premium payments paid in order to be covered by Family and Medical Leave Insurance. It is a typically a shared expense with your employer based on .9% of your wages. This deduction is established by Proposition 118 and you cannot opt out of the program.  For more information, click here

Covered Colorado workers may receive up to twelve weeks of leave per year to for the various reasons listed here. You can use the FAMLI Premiums & Benefits calculator to estimate your potential benefit payment.
