My daughter lives in Missouri. She works as a traveling nurse. A portion of 2023 (about 20 weeks) she worked in Nebraska. Does she have to file a Nebraska tax return & pay for that state software?

I'm doing her taxes and I just want to do it the correct way. Thank you for your advice.

Yes, she would have to file a return for Nebraska as she worked there during the year. You should file that return first before the Missouri return as you need the taxes paid in Nebraska to determine a credit for taxes paid to another state when you prepare the Missouri return. Look for that credit when you go through the Missouri return so you won't be taxed on the same income in both states.

She did pay taxes to Nebraska according to her W-2 from that employer.
