Did something change w/New York State W2s? 2022 W2 had State & Local Income Taxes paid (lns 17 & 19). 2023 only has State Income Tax, line 17, but much higher than '22

i didn't change anything in my deductions between 22 and 23, so I'm not sure why Local Income Taxes wouldn't have been withheld unless something changed on the state end?

I'm not aware of any change on the W-2 regarding Local Taxes being Withheld.

And, I don't know why your state tax increased, and no local tax was posted.

I suggest you double check your pay stubs, and see if they indicate a local tax withheld.
Then confirm with your employer and/or payroll company:
- Why it wasn't taken out
- Or why its not posted to your W-2.
It may be that the payroll service included the local taxes wit your state taxes.
