Q. Didn't make a lot this year what can I do to get the most?

A. Most likely, there's nothing you can do now.

About the only thing that can be done after Dec. 31 is make a deductible IRA contribution to lower your taxable income. If your calculated tax is already zero, that will do you no good.

The refundable credits are based on your earned income and that amount is already established.

More specific advice would be based on knowing more about your situation.  One common example: if you're a divorced or separated parent, with little earned income, it may be better to let the other parent claim the kids.

You are posting from one of the expensive versions of the software.  Did you choose that on purpose?  If so, you are using online "Live" which provides expert help.   If you are keeping "Live" then talk to your expert.

If you did not mean to choose "Live" then post some other details here---without Social Security number, email, name, etc.  Nothing personal.
