Question

Do active duty military members who are rhode island residents get state tax exemption if they work outside the state? My LES shows no state taxes deduction.

No, there is no state exemption if you are stationed outside of the state. You might want to check your state withholdings at mypay.

If you were deployed in a combat zone your pay will be nontaxable  on your federal and state returns (you will have code Q in box 12 on your W-2).
