Do I have to do anything if I lived in MD, but worked in VA for most of 2017?

I guess my main question is, do I have to file any state taxes for Virginia or whatever since I worked in that state for 8 months of 2017?

It all depends on what your w-2 shows in the state boxes.

Your W-2 should not show any tax withheld for VA, because VA and MD have a reciprocity agreement.  If VA did not withhold any state tax, you do not have to file a return in VA.

If your employer made a mistake and withheld tax in VA even though you are a MD resident, then you will have to file a Nonresident VA return to get that tax back.  Do NOT take a credit in MD for tax withheld in another state.  All of your income is taxable in MD and anything incorrectly withheld from VA will be refunded to you by VA.
