Do I need to file a North Carolina state tax return if I sold an inherited home in NC but had no residency there and earned no income in NC?

    Yes, you may need to file a return in North Carolina if you received income from the property that you sold and your total income from the state where you reside or earn income, is greater than the amount listed on the Filing Requirments Chart.
