Do I need to file taxes for Oklahoma if my W2 shows two state codes under #15 CA & OK? My home state is CA but my job sent me to other states for work.

I worked for a company where I traveled all over the US remodeling stores. Never in the past did my company ever indicate another state that I worked in on my W2. For 2018 my W2 now shows CA and Ok under #15. Does this require me to say yes that I earned money in another state? And does this now require I file state taxes for OK?

Yes.  You will file a California resident return and an Oklahoma nonresident return.  Your resident state of California will tax all of your income regardless of where you earn it.  Oklahoma will tax the income you earned in that state.  Because both states are taxing the same income, California will give you a credit for the state taxes you are paying to Oklahoma on the same income.

Your company is supposed to withhold tax for any state where you work, unless the state in question does not have a state income tax.  California always taxes you no matter where you earn your income.

Prepare the Oklahoma return first so TurboTax can transfer the tax credit to the California return.
