Do I need to file two state tax returns? Started 2023 in Minnesota lived temporarily in Colorado while waiting for new house to be built in MN.

Stayed with family for two months and were back in MN before the end of the year.

The answer depends on your income during the time you lived in Colorado.  You would not be considered a Colorado resident since you did not intend to stay in Colorado.  So therefore you have to consider the income you earned while in Colorado and whether it was from a Colorado source.
