Do I need to need to file taxes for my mom that passed away?

My Mom passed away in 2023 and she was in a nursing home on social security and on Medicaid. She had very little money or income. I think her bank account had 1,200 or less in it

 

do I need to file taxes for her on her behalf? Or is there anything I need to do tax-wise for her?

    Based on the information that you shared, it does not seem like she was required to file a tax return.  Something you might need to do for her is to make sure the Social Security Administration has been notified of the taxpayer's death. You can either go to their website or call 1-800-772-1213.  For more information refer to the TurboTax help article below:
