Do I need to state file my 1099-NEC for Washington, D.C.? --- I did the work for a company in DC, but I live in Maryland. Owe nothing to DC, and not getting refund.

You do not have to file a Washington DC tax return.

 

In most cases the state that you work in is where you pay the taxes.  Many companies are based in states other than the one you work in.

 

If you did not go to Washington DC you would only file in your home state.
