does all copies in Federal tax return need to be print and attach to California state return or just specific forms?

In Turbotax print out instruction, it says need to attach a copy of federal return, so does this means all forms in federal return? does this includes working sheets, etc? 

 

or if there is only a single form from federal return need be attached?

    It depends.  Generally, only forms and schedules need to be attached; no worksheets.  Below are the CA instructions for attachments.  

     

    "Other than Schedule A (Form 1040) or Schedule B (Form 1040), did you attach any federal forms or schedules to your federal Form 1040 or 1040-SR?

     

    If No, do not attach a copy of your federal Form 1040 or 1040-SR return to Form 540.

     

    If Yes, attach a copy of your federal Form 1040 or 1040-SR return and all supporting federal forms and schedules to Form 540.

     

    Exception: If you did not itemize deductions on your federal tax return but will itemize deductions on your California tax return, complete and attach a copy of the federal Schedule A (Form 1040) to Form 540.

     

    Do not attach any documents to your tax return unless specifically instructed. This will help us reduce government processing and storage costs."

    @DMarkM1 thanks and i found after click print all official document from tubotax, it actually prints out certain Federal return after State return, so does this mean TT automatically prepares the Federal forms needed to attached with, no need to manually do anything?

    It depends. The instructions are stated above your question.

    If you did not itemize on federal, but will on state, force print a Sch A and attach it with your federal forms.

    If you had no Sch A or Sch B, there is nothing to do. Otherwise, attach all federal forms, not worksheets.
