Double counting Income

I work in NY, live in NJ.

My W2 shows Tax paid to NY.  

Box 15: NJ  Box16: xxxx 

Box 15:NY Box16: xxx Box17: yyyy

turbo tax for NJ state is  double counting my Income.

how to rectify it.

    New Jersey and New York tax income differently so you employer reports different amounts for each state.

     

    Remove your NY wages from your NJ return. There is a section in New Jersey that asks which wages you want to exclude.

     

    In the New Jersey section, go to Let's Confirm Your Taxable State Wages. Select Remove These Wages next to NY (keep NJ because this is the NJ return you are working on).
