I checked box to file state tax later and it keeps defaulting to e-file now

I do not want to pay for e-filing state tax

Are you using the CD/download or online TT? If you are using online there is no extra fee to e-file the state. The fee for using online is the same whether you e-file or mail it in an envelope.

If you are using the CD/download then you can avoid the $25 state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state return. Go up to File at the top of your computer screen and when it gives you a drop down, choose that you want to print the state return to file by mail.
