Employer deducted state taxes for the wrong state. I live in FL but for some reason my job made a mistake and took MI taxes from me for 2 pay periods last year. So I recieved a W2 for FL and MI. I was told by a few people to file Non-Resident return with Michigan but I don't see that option while filing.

Review your personal information to make sure that you answered the question that you made money in another state so TurboTax will generate the MI state return.  Follow the instructions below:

  1. Launch TurboTax and select My Info
  2. Personal profile summary screen will pop up
  3. Select Edit by your name
  4. Scroll down to Other State Income and select Edit
  5. Check your answer for Did you make money in any other states? Select Yes and make sure to answer that you made money in MI.

After you complete your federal tax return and you move to the State Taxes sections, you will see a nonresident MI tax return. Prepare the MI return and make sure you allocate $0 income for MI so you can be refunded your withholdings.
