Greetings,

My employer paid taxes to the wrong state in error.  I caught the mistake at the the end of the tax year 2022.  I need to get my money back from Mass and how do I do so?  I already files takes for the 2022 year.

Thanks

You will have to file a nonresident MA tax return for tax year 2022, report 0 income and the amount of MA taxes withheld on the return.  You should receive the full amount of MA taxes withheld as a refund.

you might ask your employer if it will refund the taxes. It's up to them and their ability to file amended payroll tax returns with Mass to get back the taxes paid for you.
