Expat Living Abroad With a Bank Account in California - Need to File as a Part -year Resident

I moved out of the US in July of 2018, but maintain a bank account and drivers license in California. According to the research I have done, because I have assets (bank account) in California I still need to file a return with the state as a part-year resident. My question is how do I do this in the turbo tax software? I answered all the questions truthfully but it still wants to file under a nonresident. Technically I haven't lived there since mid-2018 and have only visited for 11 days in 2019. How do I get the software to tick the part-year resident box?

Since you don't live there, you would file as a non-resident if your bank account produced enough income to require you to file.

If you want to force the program to file a part-year return you would have to say that you lived there, but you didn't live there.

Thank you for the answer. I have another question.

What is the threshold for money I sent back? I don't know how much I sent throughout the year but I can tell you it is definitely under $10,000. If I haven't made any money in California (aside from $450 tax return from 2018), do I even need to file a state return?
