Question

Failure to E-File a NYS return

I have tried at least 8 times to e-file my NYS return, but it keeps coming back to a screen that says I need to fill in an amount that relates to some program in NY city about flexible benefits.  I have no idea what this is and do not have any connection with NY city taxes or any liability thereof.  I believe the form is IT-225 and the line is A-101.  It currently has $0 in it and it won't let me put anything in there to move on....  It is asking me to put the info from my W-2 into the spot.  However, I do not have a W-2, I am a self employed individual.  Please let me know how I can get past this screen and e-file my return as NY doesn't allow any other way to transmit my return to them... Thanks. Bill Talham

You may be able to move past that error by deleting that form. Have you tried deleting that form from your return? ‌

If you are using TurboTax Desktop version of TurboTax you can  do the following to delete the form:

  1. In the top right corner of your TurboTax screen click on "Forms" to switch to Forms Mode.
  2. In you left panel  scroll down to the Form (IT-225) and in your right panel near the bottom of the form select "Delete Form
  3. and a box will appear to confirm the deletion, Click on "Yes"

If you are using TurboTax Online version of TurboTax you can  do the following to delete the form:

  1. Continue your return
  2. Click on "Tax Tools" then "Tools" and
  3. Under "Other Helpful Links"
  4. Select "Delete a Form"
  5. This will bring up all of your forms and you can then
  6. Click on "Delete" next to the form you want to delete

After deleting the form I was able to successfully transmit my NY state return. Thank you.
