Filed for federal extension - how to pay taxes due to state (NJ) to avoid interest?

I owe taxes every year. I filed a federal extension and paid the estimated taxes due to avoid late fees and interest.

How do I do the same for New Jersey through Turbo Tax?

You can prepare a New Jersey extension in TurboTax.

    1. Go to the New Jersey section
    2. Keep going until your are near the end. You will see File an Extension for New Jersey?
    3. Select Do Extension
    4. Print and mail your extension

You can file an extension online directly with the State of New Jersey. See: Tax Deadline Change and Information on Extension Requests

You do not have to file a New Jersey extension if you filed a federal extension. You can provide NJ a copy of the federal extension when you file your state return.
