Question

Following TurboTax, I filed a non-resident refund request for DC. I live in MN, DC company, w2 shows MN taxes withheld. I now realize DC doesn't owe me! How to cancel?

I followed the TurboTax guidance and completed and submitted a DC non-resident form to get a refund. Now I realize this was incorrect advice and I am not owed a refund by DC. How do I withdraw my DC refund request? (And is there any way to get a turbotax refund for the irrelevant DC return I was told to submit?)

You can't take back a tax return (federal or state) if it's been successfully filed and accepted. If you are not entitled to a refund, D.C. will process your return and send you nothing.

You can contact customer support for a refund or use the online refund tool. In most cases, TurboTax will not issue refunds after you pay for the online product, because submitting payment reflects your satisfaction with TurboTax Online preparation of your taxes, and is non-refundable.
