Doing taxes for 2024 I noticed on state return a credit you could use for foreign country income and taxes paid. So then looking back at 2023 I hadn't noticed it and could have used it then too. On my federal return I have form 1116 for foreign credit. The final checks TT does for missing data or getting all the credits did not call it to my attention.  I need to amend only my state return to get some additional monies back. I did purchase audit defense and am not being audited. How best should I amend the state return ?

You can log in to your 2023 return and indicate that you need to amend your state tax return.  NOTE: States, in general, do not have a foreign tax credit.

Thanks for the response, In North Carolina they do recognize so you aren't taxed twice.
