Question

forgot to include estimated quarterly taxes

First year filing as self employed.  I paid estimated taxes in 2024 but neglected to add the information on my tax returns.  My returns show I owe money, but I actually overpaid.  Should I file an amended tax return or will the IRS catch my mistake?

The IRS will likely correct this omission for you when they match your return with their records.

Wait a few weeks to see if you receive a refund. If not. log in to check your transcript to see if the IRS has corrected.

If they have not corrected, you can file an amended return
