Question

Form 1099-G: "PFML should not be checked unless the payment is from a state that issues paid family leave payments." It won't let me file with it checked. Help?

I live in Colorado and the payment is for Paid Family Leave. It wants me to uncheck it, but then that would be inaccurate.

Uncheck the box. You should be subtracting the PFML in your CO return. Follow these steps:

    1. Return to your state program and continue to Here's the income that CO handles differently
    2. Scroll down to Miscellaneous Income section
    3. Locate FAMLI Benefits Received
    4. Start
    5. Enter the nontaxable portion
    6. Continue
    7. You will see the subtraction
