My wife worked in Georgia for a week and received a W2.  The total income was only1989.07.  According to the Georgia tax web site "If you are a legal resident of another state, you are not required to file a Georgia income tax return if your only activity for financial gain or profit in Georgia consists of performing services in Georgia for an employer as an employee when the compensation for services performed does not exceed the lesser of 5% of the income received in all places during the taxable year or $5,000.00.".  Does this mean that I do not have to file a Georgia Tax return but simply show out of state taxes on my South Carolina Tax Return?

That's correct, as long as her GA income doesn't exceed the limits you quoted.

However, if GA taxes were withheld from her pay (Box 17 of her W-2) and she would like them refunded to her, then she would have to file a non-resident GA return in order to claim the refund.
