Question

Getting taxed for income in 2 states

I lived in CO from Jan - Oct 2024 and had a job there.  Retired to SC in early Nov. and only had income from retirement (Soc. Sec. and pensions).  It appears that SC is taxing me for the income I made in CO as Turbo Tax is saying that I owe $1600 in SC taxes.  (I do not believe SC taxes Soc Sec and Pension income).   How do I handle this so I'm not taxed in SC for my CO income.  Thanks

SC does not tax Social Security, but they do tax certain other kinds of retirement income.

If you moved in 2024, you need to make sure you indicated in MY INFO  (in your federal return)  that you moved during the year.   You will need to prepare part-year returns for each of those two states and allocate the income received in each one.
