HDHP premium deduction for Georgia return

I'm trying to determine if the premiums for a HDHP are deductible on my Georgia return.  The premiums are deducted from my husband's monthly retirement, so I don't have a W-2 to show if it's pretax.  Also, if there is a HRA account tied to the HDHP, how do I account for that?  Thanks!

If your husband receives a 1099-R for his retirement, there may be an amount in Box 5 representing Health Insurance Premiums.  If so, when you entered the 1099-R, that amount is subtracted from the Gross Income in Box 1, so is not being taxed on your Federal return.

This flows into your Georgia return, so he is not being taxed there either, and you would not need to claim the deduction again in the Georgia interview.

If not, and you are not filing with Itemized Deductions for Medical Expenses on Schedule A in your Federal return, you can claim the deduction for HDHP Premiums in your Georgia return.
