Question

Hello, I currently live in NY but I work in NJ. Would I remove NJ or NY wages when having to choose to remove wages that are a duplicate? Ref. box 16.

Check "Remove These Wages" for each state wage line that is a duplicate. Typically, New Jersey wages should be higher than federal wages because New Jersey does not allow the same federal deductions.

I have to choose NY or NJ to remove.

Be sure to complete your non-resident NJ return before you do your home state NY return.

On your NJ return, click to remove the NY wages.  Only the NJ wages are taxable by NJ.
