Yes, if you have SC income from rental property, businesses, or other investments in South Carolina, you must file a South Carolina Income Tax return.

See:  Do I need to file a South Carolina Income Tax return?

You will be able to allocate your total income in the SC state tax interview so only your SC income will get taxed there.

Prepare the SC non-resident return first. That way the program will calculate how much SC tax you have to pay on the SC-sourced income.

NC will also tax that income, but will give you credit for the tax paid to SC.
