Hi there! I was a California resident for the first three weeks of 2019 and then moved to Tennessee. Do I need to file for both states? Also, did I become a Tennessee resident at the time of getting m

If you earned no income (or paid no tax) in California, you don't need to file a California return.

 

If you did, you will need to file a California Part-Year Resident return, reporting only your CA income.

 

If not, just file a Tennessee Resident State return. 

 

Residency in Tennessee is established after six months.
