How can I manually edit North Carolina form D-400 line 21c to enter taxes paid?

The estimated state tax payments and the tax payment included with an extension are entered in the federal interview. It then flows to the state. There is a problem with overriding a form. Overriding may invalidate our 100% Accurate Calculations Guarantee. Additionally, returns that contain overrides cannot be e-filed.

Here is how to enter some of those tax payments:

  • Personal
  • Deductions & Credits
  • Estimates and other Taxes Paid
  • State Estimated Taxes...update
  • Go back....to Payment with 2017 state extension...start

This suggestion does not populate an amount in line 21c.  You can populate amounts for lines 21a & 21b.

The amount on North Carolina form D-400, Line 21c originates from the Tax Payments Worksheet, Line 8.

The Date Paid is in the first column, and the amount in the second column.  You can enter/change the amounts on the Tax Payments Worksheet in FORMS mode.

If you're entering Federal K-1, here's more info on Entering Form K-1.  A credit for clean electricity production would be shown on Federal Form 3800 Worksheet, Line 1f.

Thank you, but that detail supports line 21a.  Do I just override the Form D-400 to get the amount onto line 21c (or 21d)?    Many Thanks for the prompt response!

It is best to data source back to a data entry point that is allowed.  I can see a magnifying glass showing on the answer by @mglauner which tells me you can click that glass to get to a better spot for entry.

If all else fails, you can override. You should go back through step by step to get the program to pick up the information so you can cancel the override before filing.

An override will void the accuracy guarantee.
