How can I owe taxes in a state i did not work in. I live in Alabama but worked entire year in Louisiana. All withholding's were to LA, but shows I owe to AL also?

Since you did not live in LA, you will file a nonresident return there and you will prepare it before you do your resident state return for AL.  When you do the AL return, you will be able to take a credit for income on which you already paid tax in another state.  If you do the nonresident state first, the program will transfer the necessary amounts from LA to AL for you for this credit.  In case you've prepared returns in the wrong order, here's how to delete and start your states over.  Make sure you click the link at the bottom to see the whole article.
