I cannot find out where to apply 2023 overpayment to 2024 Estimated taxes. There is no form or question. There is horrible help. Your help is terrible.

To apply your state refund to next year, enter it under

State Taxes tab

And keep continuing and stepping through the interview about a dozen or more screens and it will finally ask how much you want to apply.  It is probably one of the last questions in the state section.

Are you filing your 2023 return?  It should be at the end right before you efile.  Did you switch to Forms mode?  Open the state return and look for the line to apply it.  You can enter it there or it might open a worksheet to enter it.  If you override some fields it might not let you efile.  Or if you click on it, it might open the step by step screen.

Does one of you have the Illinois software? Can you give the OP step-by-step instructions for applying a 2023 Illinois overpayment to 2024 Illinois estimated tax?

For Illinois, go to the Estimated Tax Worksheet.  (Go to View>Forms>Illinois Individual>Estimated Wks). Part II of the worksheet is Overpayment Application Options.  Line 2 in Part II allows you to enter the amount of your 2023 overpayment that you want applied to your 2024 Estimated Tax.

Alternatively:  Proceed through the Illinois online "interview" until you get to the page headed "A few things before we wrap up your state taxes".  Then click on "Estimate Taxes for next year" and proceed through the follow-up questions.

Thank you SO much TomD8! I don't know why Turbo Tax makes this SO HARD every year. I am just doing my 2024 taxes now. I am saving a screenshot of your answer to save for next year when I'm sure I'll be pulling my hair out over this once again.
