Turbo tax made it easy to pay estimated federal tax and defer filing until Oct. 15. How do I do that for the state return?

If you are going to file federal later then just don't go though the state return until then. You can't efile state until federal has been filed and accepted anyway. Do you need to pay an extension amount for state now? You can probably go to your state's website and make a payment.
