Can you clarify what adjustment are you trying to make and what state return are you working on?

I am working on the Iowa tax return.  I cannot find where to enter “Federal Tax Paid for prior years” in order for the deduction to show up on schedule 1, line 18.  TurboTax only has an input cell for federal tax refunds received.

To make this entry in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open TurboTax Online
  2. Select  Tax Home in the left pane
  3. On the  Hi, let's keep working on your taxes! screen, select the dropdown on the right side of the State Taxes box, then select StartContinue, or Review/Edit
  4. If the  You've already got a head start on state taxes screen appears, select Let's get started.  Otherwise, in the left pane, select Prepare State
  5. Proceed through the screens until you come to the Status of your state returns screen
  6. Select  StartContinue or Edit to the right of Iowa
  7. Proceed through the state screens until you get to the Prior Year Federal Tax screen
  8. Enter any federal income taxes paid in 2023 for 2022 or earlier tax years

You can only deduct this amount if you filed an Iowa return in the years for which you paid the federal tax. You can include only the actual federal tax payments made in 2023, but don't include penalties and interest.
