Question

How do I enter Virginia 529 contributions? They're tax deductible up to 4K, but there's no place to input them under Education on the "income VA handles differently" page

Previous answers to this question direct users to the "Here's the income that Virginia handles differently" page, under the Education heading, and that's where we've inputted that info in prior years, but it is no longer listed under Education - the only Education related options are Commonwealth Savers Distribution or Refund, Continuing Teacher Education, Donation to School Construction Fund, and Deduction for Eligible Educators. (Prior guidance is here, but the "Virginia College Savings Prepaid Tuition (Section 529) Plan" option is not listed this year - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/discussion/how-do-i-enter-virginia-529-contributions-they-are-tax-deductible-up-to-4k/00/1895459/message-id/81643 https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/discussion/how-do-i-enter-my-contribution-to-a-virginia-529-plan-to-get-a-deduction-on-my-virginia-state-taxes/00/1880310/page/2 )

You should enter the contributions in the section for Commonwealth Savers. Per Commonwealth Savers, "To better reflect this expanded mission, the organization changed its legal name in 2024 from “Virginia College Savings Plan” to “Commonwealth Savers.”
